Currently, we have multiple vacancies for Disability Support Workers to join our team working with participants both one-on-one and in Supported Independent Living housing.
n
About the Role
n
Your day-to-day will involve:
n
Building and maintaining trusting and meaningful working relationships with our clients, their circle of support and the community.
n
Assisting in developing, implementing, and evaluating support plans that enable our clients to set and achieve personal goals.
n
Facilitating community inclusion and participation and supporting our clients to establish and maintain relationships and interests through access to community activities, venues, and services.
n
Encouraging positive and socially appropriate behaviour and effectively manage challenging behaviours.
n
Providing personal care where required and personalised support in accordance with the personal support plan.
n
Track and document an individual's progress through thorough record keeping.
n
Our ideal candidate: What we're looking for:
n
You will have a passion for working with people with disabilities with an understanding and commitment to a person-centered model of practice.
n
An ability to work flexible hours with a willingness to work within a 24/7 rotating roster, including overnight shifts and weekend shifts.
n
You will need to be willing to attend all training required to ensure you have the tools to support your participants.
n
Candidates must be Australian citizens to be eligible for this position.
n
You will need to meet the following essential criteria for your application to progress:
n
NDIS Worker Screening and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain at your own cost)
n
Completion of the NDIS worker Orientation and Induction Module
n
Current Senior First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain at your own cost)
n
Valid Queensland driver's license and reliable transport with full comprehensive Insurance.
n
Solid interpersonal and communication skills
n
Preferred but not essential.
n
Cert III Disability (or willingness to obtain this qualification), or experience in Disability Support
n
Manual handling training
n
Administration of medication training
n
Experience working with challenging behaviours
n
Experience working with participants who require manual handling and personal care.
n
Previous experience in and knowledge of the disability services industry.
