Role Description This is a full-time, on-site General Practitioner role based in Fitzroy North, VIC.
The General
Practitioner will provide comprehensive primary care, including diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions, preventive health checks, and ongoing patient education.
Responsibilities include conducting consultations, ordering and interpreting investigations, prescribing medications, and coordinating care with allied health and specialist services. The role involves maintaining accurate and timely clinical records, adhering to clinical guidelines, and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
The General
Practitioner will also participate in practice meetings,
collaborate closely with nursing and administrative staff, and support community-focused health initiatives as part of Brecken Health’s broader mission.
Qualifications
- Current medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and full registration with AHPRA, with appropriate vocational registration (e.g., FRACGP or equivalent) preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in general practice, including primary care management of acute and chronic conditions, preventive medicine, and comprehensive patient assessments.
- Strong clinical decision-making, diagnostic, and prescribing skills, with commitment to evidence-based practice and adherence to relevant guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust with diverse patient populations and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Competence in using general practice clinical software and electronic medical records, and comfort working with up-to-date IT systems and digital workflows.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, confidentiality, professional ethics, and cultural safety, with a focus on accessible, high-quality services.
- Ability to manage workload efficiently, prioritize tasks, and contribute to practice operations, including participation in quality improvement and clinical audits.
- Experience in community-based initiatives, health promotion, or outreach activities is beneficial, as is prior work in similar clinic or group practice environments.
