What does it take to turn a working waste-to-power pilot into a funded, repeatable case — and keep the evidence straight before the plant runs? This is a Grants Consultant Intern building the grant file for EX Epic Inc. at Zero-X, the engineering company turning waste into clean power with AI. Zero-X was named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies list (Energy, 2018), is funded by PTJ (Projekträger Jülich, the German federal research agency), and delivered the Cometha project ("Waste to Methane") for the City of Paris.

The proof employers hire on is a real grant file assembled from technical facts, funder criteria, and budget tables. Everyone has a degree. Almost nobody has proof.

What you build

Not a task list. The thing you build.

You compile the grant file for the waste-to-power pilot: problem statement, technical approach, budget, timeline, and the evidence behind each.

You work on the funder map — public and private programs where Zero-X's waste-to-power work fits, with eligibility rules and deadlines.

The compliance annex gets drafted and cross-checked against the funder rules, line by line.

The submission calendar lists every requirement, owner, and due date, and it stays current.

The bar A funding case written outside coursework, with the evaluator's pushback named, is the floor.

A budget table another person can follow without you in the room, with every assumption named, is the standard.

A compliance checklist that caught a missing document before the deadline is the proof.

Kept a hard application on the table until the annex matched the ask.

Where you do it — and why here

Thirty years building companies — New York, London, Tokyo, the Valley — and then it stopped mattering where the work happened. So the program runs on-site in Canggu, Bali. A contemporary company costs twelve people and a toolchain — so being wrong six times a year is part of how we build. The campus is 4,000 sqm, and the people who run the companies are on it every day. Epic Solutions PT runs the on-site program here. What this location buys is attention, not a view.

What happens after

Seventeen interns have moved into full-time roles across the group. For Zero-X, the destination is Melbourne — at the Energaia Institute, beside Monash. The destination role and its terms are agreed before you commit, never after. The internship is step one; paid work is the destination, for the ones who stay. Earned, not guaranteed.

Terms

Unpaid under Indonesian law. A room is available on campus — rent paid by you. Epic Solutions PT hosts the in office program and assists with the C22B internship visa process; the visa fee is yours. Daily lunch on us. Starting September.
