Make a real difference where safety, care and support come together. Join our team as a Support Services Officer - Health and Security Assist and play a vital role in creating a safe, secure and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors every day.

About the Role

As a Support Services Officer - Health and Security Assist, you will provide a unique combination of security, patient support and operational services across the health facility. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help maintain a safe and secure environment while supporting the delivery of quality healthcare services. This diverse and rewarding role involves responding to security incidents and duress alarms, managing challenging behaviours, providing assistance to patients, visitors and staff, and carrying out environmental cleaning duties in line with infection prevention and work health and safety standards. You will work across a 24/7 service environment, participating in a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends and public holidays.

About You

You are a calm, professional and reliable individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and can confidently manage challenging situations while remaining composed under pressure.



With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you build positive relationships with patients, visitors, colleagues and members of the public, delivering a high standard of customer service and support.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a current Class 1A Security Licence, Senior First Aid Certificate. You will have demonstrated experience responding to aggressive incidents, challenging behaviours and duress situations, along with the ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will communicate respectfully and compassionately with people from diverse backgrounds and have a sound understanding of environmental cleaning practices, infection control, safe manual handling and workplace health and safety principles.

You will also be flexible and willing to participate in a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays and night shifts. You will bring a qualified attitude, adaptability and a willingness to work across all areas of the health service, including a morgue environment, while contributing to a safe and supportive healthcare setting.

What you'll be doing

Providing a protected and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors, and assisting clinical staff in the care and comfort of patients.
