Job Description
$120,000 – $130,000 + Super | Greenacre, NSW

Full time | Monday to Friday | Office-Based | 7:30am – 4:00pm

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Service Manager to join a well-established, Australian-owned technical services business based in Sydney.
n
The organisation is a recognised specialist in the design, integration, installation and servicing of sophisticated audio visual, professional audio, performance lighting, communications and control systems.
n
Working across a diverse range of environments including major sporting venues, theatres, schools, corporate organisations, public sector clients and large-scale facilities, the business is known for delivering complex, high-quality technical solutions and ongoing service support.
n
This is a key leadership position responsible for driving the performance of the service function, leading a highly skilled technical team and ensuring clients receive exceptional service and support.

- This role offers a stable Monday-to-Friday working environment, with standard hours of 7:30am to 4:00pm, and is fully office-based in Greenacre.

- Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 + Expenses, Allowances and Superannuation, dependent on experience.

About the Role
n
As Service Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day service operation, overseeing a team of technicians and service personnel while ensuring maintenance, repairs, defect rectification and support services are delivered efficiently, safely and profitably.
n
You will play a pivotal role in workforce planning, scheduling, resource allocation, financial management, customer relationships and continuous improvement.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded service leader who combines strong people leadership with commercial acumen and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Lead and manage the service department, including technicians, administration staff and contractors.
n
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of service and maintenance activities.
n
- Manage technician scheduling, resource allocation and workforce utilisation.
n
- Ensure service projects are delivered on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
n
- Oversee service workflows from scheduling through to completion, invoicing and post-service review.
n
- Manage project defects, warranty obligations and defect liability to ensure timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
n
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, venue operators, consultants, builders and subcontractors.
n
- Identify opportunities to secure new maintenance and service agreements and grow recurring revenue.
n
- Monitor service budgets, costs, forecasting, margins and profitability.
n
- Oversee service-related procurement and invoicing.
n
- Prepare monthly operational and financial reports for senior management.
n
- Implement effective quality, risk, compliance and operational processes.
n
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the service function.
n
- Work closely with project delivery, commercial, purchasing and HR teams.
n
- Coach, mentor and develop a high-performing technical service team.
n
- Establish clear performance expectations and foster a collaborative, accountable culture
n
- Provide strategic input into the future growth and development of the service department.

About You
n
You will be an experienced Service Manager, Operations Manager or senior technical services leader with a proven background managing teams and complex service operations.
n
Ideally, you will bring experience within the audio visual, professional audio, broadcast, theatre, entertainment technology,
control systems or related technical services industry.
n
n
- Minimum 5 years' proven service management experience.
n
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing highly skilled technical teams.
n
- Strong commercial and financial understanding, including costing, estimating, margins and budgets.
n
- Experience managing service contracts, maintenance programs, defects and warranty obligations.
n
- Strong operational planning, scheduling and resource management capabilities.
n
- Proven ability to develop and implement operational improvements.
n
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Confidence working with senior management, clients and external stakeholders.
n
- The ability to lead, coach and motivate technical teams.
n
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges.
n
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
n
- An understanding of the audio visual and/or theatre industry.
n
n
A degree in Business, Operations Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded, as will relevant trade qualifications and technical experience in the AV/technical services sector.
n
Qualifications & Requirements

You will need to hold, or be eligible to obtain:

- Current NSW Driver Licence – manual licence desirable.
n
- NSW Working with Children Check.
n
- Satisfactory Police Check.
n
- Australian working rights.
n
- WHS Construction Induction Card.
n
- Relevant tertiary, trade or industry qualifications.
n
