Role Description The Instructional Designer will work on a part-time, remote basis to design and develop learning materials that support candidates exploring careers within UN agencies and related organizations. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting learning needs assessments, planning instructional strategies, and creating online courses, guides, and toolkits tailored to diverse audiences.
The role involves structuring curricula, designing engaging learning activities, and ensuring content is clear, inclusive, and accessible across digital platforms.
The Instructional
Designer will collaborate with subject matter experts to align learning objectives with user needs, manage content in learning platforms, and continuously evaluate and improve training resources based on feedback and performance data.
Qualifications
- Ability to conduct Needs Analysis to identify learner profiles, performance gaps, and training requirements.
- Robust Instructional Design skills, including selecting appropriate learning methods, media, and assessment strategies.
- Experience in Training & Development, with a focus on building engaging, outcome-focused learning experiences.
- Knowledge of Learning Management concepts, including organizing, delivering, and tracking digital learning programs.
- Proficiency in Curriculum Development, designing structured learning paths and modular content for diverse audiences.
- Experience with e-learning authoring tools and virtual learning environments (e.g., LMS platforms, SCORM, interactive content tools).
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to present complex information in a clear, learner-friendly way.
- Familiarity with humanitarian, development, or international cooperation contexts is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Capacity to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
