The successful candidate will work across all areas of the firm’s practice, including wills and estates, property law, litigation, building and construction disputes and family law.
You will work closely with our experienced lawyers and receive practical guidance, mentoring and exposure to files from commencement through to resolution. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is eager to learn, willing to take initiative and keen to develop into a capable and well-rounded practitioner.
Your responsibilities will include
- Assisting with the preparation of wills, powers of attorney and estate-planning documents;
- Assisting with deceased-estate administration and related estate matters;
- Supporting our lawyers with property and conveyancing matters;
- Conducting legal research and preparing correspondence, court documents and briefs;
- Assisting with general litigation and building and construction disputes;
- Providing support in a smaller number of family law matters;
- Communicating with clients, other solicitors, counsel, experts and relevant authorities; and
- Assisting with the day-to-day management and progression of files.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has recently completed, or is nearing completion of, their practical legal training and is eligible for admission in Victoria;
- Has a genuine interest in developing experience across several areas of law;
- Is enthusiastic, dependable and has a strong work ethic;
- Demonstrates initiative and is willing to take ownership of their work;
- Has robust written and verbal communication skills;
- Is organised, attentive to detail and able to manage competing priorities;
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a close-knit team; and
- Approaches clients and colleagues with professionalism, empathy and respect.
Previous legal experience will be looked upon favourably but is not essential. We are primarily looking for the right person - someone with a positive attitude, sound judgment and a genuine willingness to learn.
