About the role

This is a Kitchen Hand position at Eco Kids Early Learning, a small, family-owned early learning centre on Bribie Island. Our meals are supplied pre-made, so this is not a chef or qualified cook position. The role involves preparing and serving morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for our children, keeping our kitchen clean and organised, and assisting our educators with cleaning and resetting the children's studios following mealtimes.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing morning and afternoon tea
- Heating and serving pre-made lunches
- Preparing fruit and other simple food items
- Following individual dietary and allergy requirements
- Washing dishes and operating the dishwasher
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen
- Assisting with cleaning and resetting the children's studios after mealtimes
- Wiping tables, sweeping and tidying eating areas
- Receiving and correctly storing food deliveries
- Maintaining food storage, labelling and temperature records

About you

- Reliable, punctual and organised




- Able to work independently and manage their daily routine
- Particular about cleanliness and takes pride in keeping spaces well presented
- Friendly and comfortable working within an early learning environment
- Confident following food safety, allergy and dietary requirements
- A positive team member who enjoys being part of a close-knit team
- Previous experience in a kitchen, school, childcare, aged care or similar setting would be highly regarded
- A Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, or currently working towards one, would be highly regarded but is not essential for this position
- Must hold or be willing to obtain a Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any required food safety training
