About the role
As an IT Field Engineer, you will provide experienced, hands-on technical support across client sites and depot locations. You will independently diagnose/resolve hardware, software and connectivity issues involving desktops, laptops, printers, network devices and servers.
The role involves managing escalated service requests, performing hardware break-fix work, completing installations/upgrades, re-imaging devices and delivering onsite support. You will use your technical knowledge and sound judgement to resolve issues that cannot be addressed remotely, while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
This role provides hands-on variety and is a genuine stepping stone into long-term IT career opportunities at Unisys.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve desktop, laptop, printer, server and network-related faults
- Perform hardware repairs, component replacements and preventative maintenance
- Attend client sites and manage complex or escalated technical service requests
- Install, configure, upgrade and re-image computers and associated equipment
- Complete installs, moves, adds and changes within client environments
- Provide advanced onsite support across hardware operating systems
- Investigate recurring issues and identify appropriate long-term solutions
- Coordinate with Service Desk teams, vendors and internal technical specialists
- Maintain accurate service records, documentation and asset information
- Deliver professional, responsive service throughout every client interaction
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated experience providing onsite or field-based IT support (L4 experience highly preferable)
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
- Unrestricted Australian working rights, as required for security-clearance eligibility
- Strong knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware, operating systems and peripherals
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues
- Experience with device installation, configuration, upgrades and re-imaging
- Ability to manage escalated incidents and work independently across client sites
- Strong communication, documentation and customer-service skills
- A+ certification or an equivalent technical qualification is highly regarded
