We’re looking for an experienced Lead Service Mechanic to join our growing Service Team.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced mechanic who enjoys leading and developing others while still providing strong technical support on the tools.

Working closely with our Service Coordinator, you’ll help plan and prioritise the team’s workload, provide technical direction, troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, oversee the quality of repairs and servicing, oversee refurbishing of machines and coach our mechanics and apprentices.

We’re looking for someone who can bring structure and technical leadership to the workshop — someone the team can turn to for guidance, who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys helping others develop their skills.

About the role

Based in our Shed C workshop in Wodonga, the Lead Service Mechanic will provide day-to-day technical leadership to our workshop and field service team. Working closely with our Service Coordinator, you’ll help plan and prioritise the team’s workload, allocate jobs and ensure work moves efficiently through the workshop and field service schedule.

You’ll take the lead on technical troubleshooting and complex repairs, oversee the quality of servicing and repair work, and coordinate the refurbishment of used machines to ensure they are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

A key part of the role is developing the capability of the team. You’ll provide hands-on coaching and technical support to our mechanics and apprentices,



help establish consistent workshop standards and step in when the team needs additional expertise on a difficult job.

You’ll also help drive strong service outcomes, including response times, quality of workmanship, productivity and first-time fix rates.

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for an experienced mechanic or technician who is ready to take greater ownership of a team and its day-to-day results, while still remaining close to the practical work.

What you'll do

- Lead the service team day to day — provide direction, set priorities and keep workshop and field service jobs moving
- Work with our Service Coordinator to plan and allocate work across field service technicians
- Develop the capability of the team through hands-on technical coaching, mentoring and regular feedback
- Get hands-on when needed, providing technical expertise on complex diagnostics, repairs and problem-solving
- Oversee machine refurbishments, coordinating work and ensuring machines are completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Drive service performance, with a focus on first-time fix rates, response times, productivity and quality of workmanship
- Maintain strong safety standards through pre-starts, risk assessments, toolbox talks and day-to-day safe work practices
- Maintain high workshop standards, working collaboratively with our production and assembly teams
- Support warranty and service outcomes, ensuring work is properly documented and issues are resolved effectively for our customers

About you

You'll need:

- A trade qualification as a mechanic or technician — agricultural machinery, heavy equipment or a closely related trade
- Experience leading or supervising a growing field service team
- Robust hands-on diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on complex mechanical equipment
- A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to farm and feedlot sites
- Exceptional communication skills — you'll be dealing with customers, your team and other department leads
