We are working with a large, well established construction company and are looking to connect with an experienced front end construction lawyer to join their in-house legal team for an initial period of approximately 3 months.
This is a hands on, transactional role suited to a lawyer with at least 5 years’ experience in front-end construction work, who is comfortable drafting and negotiating construction contracts and can operate with minimal supervision.
The Role
Working as part of the in-house legal team, you will provide practical legal support across a range of construction and project matters, with a particular focus on front end contracting.
Your responsibilities will include
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts and related project documentation
- Advising on appropriate and commercially achievable risk allocation
- Working with project and commercial teams to identify and manage contractual risks
- Providing practical advice throughout the procurement and contracting process
- Applying the company's standard risk checklists and governance processes
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts are commercially workable and appropriately protect the business
About You
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, with:
- A minimum of 5 years' post admission experience
- Strong front end construction experience
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts
- A sound understanding of market-standard drafting practices and achievable risk allocation
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to provide practical, solutions focused advice
- The confidence to work autonomously with minimal coaching or supervision
- The ability to work effectively with project, commercial and operational stakeholders
