Workforce Extensions Geelong is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join the night shift maintenance team of a large and well-established manufacturing business based in Corio. This is not simply a short-term shutdown or project role. We are looking for someone interested in consistent, ongoing work, with the opportunity to transition into permanent employment with the host employer following a successful labour hire period.
Operating within a highly automated manufacturing environment, you'll work alongside an established maintenance team responsible for keeping a busy production facility operating safely and efficiently.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Fitter, you'll be involved in both planned and reactive maintenance across a broad range of plant and automated manufacturing equipment.
Your responsibilities will include
- Preventative and scheduled maintenance
- Responding to breakdowns and production issues
- Mechanical fault finding and repairs
- Maintenance of CNC and automated machinery
- Working with conveyors and robotic equipment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic fault finding and repairs
- General mechanical maintenance
- Welding and fabrication where required
- Supporting equipment upgrades and improvement projects
- Working closely with electrical and production personnel
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance
This is a hands-on maintenance position suited to someone who enjoys fault finding and wants exposure to more than repetitive servicing work.
About You
We're looking for a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter who can bring a strong mechanical skillset to the maintenance team. Ideally, you'll have:
- Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Essential)
- Experience as a Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter within manufacturing, processing or another industrial environment
- Robust mechanical fault-finding ability
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Confidence working around automated production machinery
- Welding and fabrication skills
- A strong understanding of workplace safety
- The ability to work effectively within a maintenance team
- A reliable and practical approach to work
Experience with CNC equipment, robotics, conveyors or CMMS maintenance systems will be highly regarded but isn't essential across every area.
