Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation (Laynha) is looking for a practical, reliable and community-minded Maintenance Officer – Health to join our Health Services team.

This is a hands-on role supporting the delivery of health services across Yirrkala and the Laynhapuy Homelands. You’ll help keep facilities, equipment and vehicles in good working order, while also providing practical support to Health programs and clients.

About Us For more than 40 years, Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation has supported Yolŋu people living across approximately 30 homelands in East Arnhem Land.

Our Health Services team works across Yirrkala and the Homelands to deliver health and wellbeing programs alongside Yolŋu communities.

About the Role

You’ll provide general maintenance and practical support to the Health team across Yirrkala and the Homelands. Your days will be wide-ranging and may include:

- Undertaking and coordinating general maintenance and repairs for the Health team.
- Completing deliveries between the Yirrkala office and Homelands.
- Undertaking yard maintenance for Health clients and patients where requested.
- Maintaining and refuelling plant, vehicles and equipment.
- Completing minor painting and other general maintenance tasks.
- Ensuring maintenance equipment and tools are kept clean, safe and in good working order.
- Working with Health program staff to support smooth service delivery.




- Travelling regularly to the Homelands, including overnight stays as required.

This is a practical role where you’ll be helping our Health team get the job done—whether that’s fixing something that needs attention, delivering supplies to a Homeland or helping maintain a client’s yard.

About You

You’ll bring

- Experience in building, construction, maintenance or general repairs.
- Confidence using a range of tools, machinery and equipment.
- Good practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Experience driving a 4WD on unsealed roads.
- The ability to read and understand contractors’ quotes and other relevant documents.
- A working knowledge of building regulations and codes, or the ability to find and use the information you need.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work respectfully with Yolŋu community members.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
- Physical fitness to undertake outdoor work, manual handling and other practical duties.
- A current C Class manual driver’s licence.
- An Ochre Card and Police Check, or the ability to obtain them.

You will also need to be willing and able to travel and stay overnight in the Homelands as required.
