The Opportunity
Are you an experienced quality leader looking to take ownership of quality performance within a complex manufacturing environment? Hays are partnering with a well-established and growing organisation seeking a Manufacturing Quality Manager to lead quality operations, drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure product quality standards are maintained across production activities.
This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for a team of quality professionals, the organisation's quality management system, audit programs and quality performance outcomes. The successful candidate will play a key role in influencing operational decision-making and maintaining a strong culture of quality across the business. The role leads Quality Supervisors, owns quality systems, and is accountable for maintaining ISO 9001 accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of quality professionals across operational environments
- Drive quality standards, systems, policies and processes across manufacturing operations
- Maintain ISO 9001 certification and manage external audit requirements
- Oversee internal audit programs and corrective action processes
- Act as the key point of contact for customers,
auditors and external inspection stakeholders
- Monitor quality performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Provide leadership and influence across production, operational and support teams
- Manage quality function resources, capability development and budget outcomes
About You To be successful, you will bring:
- Proven experience leading quality teams within manufacturing, production, industrial or engineering environments
- A hands-on quality leader in fabrication, heavy engineering or a similar production setting
- The ability to read engineering drawings, welding procedures, inspection and test plans is essential
- Direct experience supervising quality personnel, holding a firm quality position under schedule pressure, and acting as the responsible person for ISO 9001 certification
- You must hold a current driving licence as travel between sites will be required
Desirable
- Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualifications relating to ISO 9001
- Background in engineering, manufacturing, industrial operations or a related technical discipline
- Exposure to highly regulated or quality-critical production environments
- A welding inspection qualification (AS 2214, CSWIP or AWS CWI)
- A trade background in fabrication or welding
