The Roster Support Lead is responsible for leading the Roster Support team to ensure the live operational roster maintains safe and effective staffing levels across services on a day-to-day basis. The role oversees real-time roster management, vacancy coordination, workforce allocation and roster change activities to support service continuity, participant outcomes and operational performance, while ensuring roster practices are compliant, responsive and cost-effective.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop Roster Support Officers to achieve service, quality and productivity outcomes and act as the primary escalation point for complex staffing issues, service risks, workforce shortages and roster exceptions.
- Ensure effective Roster Support Officer staffing to maintain the live roster from 5am to 11pm, including extended weekend coverage.
- Conduct reviews to ensure roster changes are managed consistently and accurately.
- Manage and allocate workloads and monitor team performance.
- Ensure the team allocating shifts to employees in a transparent, fair and consistent manner, without bias and favouritism.
- Assist in developing and maintaining 24-hour rosters in the rostering system to ensure adequate staffing level within NDIS funding parameters.
- Ensure confirmed roster changes are communicated clearly to staff, service leaders and other relevant stakeholders by designing and implementing appropriate processes to facilitate.
- Allocating and backfilling resources within a limited timeframe due to unforeseen or unplanned circumstances.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 3+ years’ experience in leading a small team in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience working with rostering, workforce management or time and attendance systems, reporting capabilities, management of queues and activity/routing/overflow, etc
- Well-developed rostering / scheduling / workforce or resource planning skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources practices and industrial award principles.
- Ability to build and maintain trust and confidence of stakeholders through building rapport, consistent performance and delivery of services.
- Demonstrated customer focused communication skills incorporating the abilities of courtesy, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise a demanding workload; and
- Advanced computer literacy e.g. MS Office and Excel.
