With continued growth and mobilisation across our projects, we are expanding our maintenance capability and seeking experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters to join a high-performing, safety-driven team committed to maximising fleet availability and operational efficiency.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Heavy Diesel Fitter is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and inspection of heavy mobile plant and haulage equipment in a site-based FIFO environment.

Working as part of the maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and maintaining mechanical performance to meet production requirements. This role involves both planned and breakdown maintenance and requires a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and effective collaboration with operations and planning teams to support continuous haulage performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Safety & Compliance: Carry out all maintenance activities in accordance with WHS legislation, site safety management systems, isolation procedures, and company policies. Complete risk assessments, adhere to critical risk controls, and report hazards, incidents, and non-compliances promptly.

· Maintenance & Operations: Perform servicing, diagnostics, fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy diesel mobile plant, road trains, and support equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Execute planned maintenance schedules and respond to breakdowns in a timely manner.

· Equipment Reliability & Electrical Systems: Diagnose mechanical faults, identify root causes of equipment failures, and provide recommendations to improve equipment reliability and performance.



Ensure all repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and site standards.

· Communication & Coordination: Liaise with Supervisors, Operators, and Maintenance personnel regarding equipment condition, repair timelines, and operational impacts. Provide clear handovers and updates on outstanding defects or maintenance tasks.

· Reporting & Documentation: Accurately complete work orders, service reports, inspection checklists, and maintenance records in accordance with company and site requirements.

ABOUT YOU

Role Requirements

· Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter with experience on Kenworth and Mack trucks

· Ability to work rotating FIFO rosters, including day and night shift

· Compliance with site medical, drug and alcohol, and fatigue management requirements

· Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial and remote environment

· Commitment to zero harm and continuous improvement in maintenance practices

Skills & Experience

· Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy diesel equipment, road trains, or mobile plant in mining or heavy industry

· Strong mechanical parts knowledge relevant to heavy diesel equipment and trucks

· Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

· Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance procedures

· Strong safety awareness and hazard identification capability

Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team

Qualifications

· Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or equivalent

· High Risk Work Licence (desirable)

· Current Australian Driver’s Licence

· Current National Police Clearance

· Valid working rights in Australia

· Any site-specific inductions or certifications as required by the Employer
