Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP)

ABOUT THE POSITION:
IWC is seeking a passionate and experienced Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) to join our Health Services team. The successful applicant will work with clients across a range of health conditions to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective, evidence-based exercise interventions.
The role will provide exercise physiology services across a broad range of conditions, including:
- Cardiovascular and metabolic conditions
- Diabetes
- Respiratory and pulmonary conditions
- Neurological and intellectual disabilities
- Mental health conditions
- Musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain
- Pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation
- Acute injury and workplace rehabilitation
- Cancer
- Kidney disease
- Osteoporosis
- Other conditions where exercise can improve a client's health and clinical outcomes
DUTIES:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients and develop individualised exercise programs based on their health needs, goals and functional capacity.
- Design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions in accordance with evidence-based practice.
- Provide exercise therapy and rehabilitation for clients with acute, sub-acute and chronic medical conditions, injuries and disabilities.
- Monitor and evaluate client progress and modify exercise programs as required.
- Deliver individual and group exercise sessions and lead exercise groups where appropriate.
- Provide education and health promotion to clients regarding exercise,
physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Communicate and collaborate with medical practitioners, allied health professionals and other health professionals involved in client care.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records, progress notes, reports and other required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with other IWC programs and services to support positive outcomes for clients.
- Work independently and autonomously while exercising professional judgement within the scope of practice of an AEP.
- Maintain professional knowledge, skills and competency through ongoing professional development.
- Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards, IWC policies and procedures.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably required within the scope of the position.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated experience in assessing clients and developing individualised exercise interventions.
- Strong knowledge of exercise prescription and rehabilitation across a range of chronic health conditions, injuries and disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and health professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Robust organisational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate client records and professional documentation.
- A genuine commitment to improving the health, wellbeing and quality of life of clients.
- Ability to provide culturally safe, respectful and person-centred care.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining current clinical knowledge and competency.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- A recognised Bachelor's degree or higher in Exercise Physiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology or a related discipline.
- Current Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) accreditation with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), or eligibility to obtain and maintain AEP accreditation.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or ability to obtain and maintain.
- A current Blue Card (Working with Children Card QLD) or ability to obtain, where applicable.
- Current professional indemnity and public liability insurance, where required.
- Current driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle, where required for the position.
- Commitment to maintaining professional development and meeting ESSA accreditation requirements.
* No Card, No Start legislation means that the successful applicant will need to hold a valid blue card before they start work. IWC will cover the cost of this application for the successful candidate.
SALARY PACKAGE:
Your Salary Package is made up of the following: -
- Salary Sacrifice Packaging valued up to $15,990 per annum – adding approximately $2,000 to your take-home pay (available after completion of probation).
- Meals and Entertainment Package up to $2,650 per annum (available after completion of probation).
- 9-Day Fortnight (for full-time staff).
- Superannuation valued at 12%.
