About the Role:

This is a part-time, Fixed Term for 0.4FTE, 30.4 hours a fortnight from 18th January 2027 until 24th January 2028 with the Eating Disorders program at the Department of Adolescent Medicine (covering/replacing long service and maternity leave).

You will be responsible for driving service transformation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team including supporting the design, implementation and coordination of research/evaluation projects and providing leadership and coordination of the specialist mental health eating disorders team. You will provide and lead high quality and evidence based outpatient clinical care to adolescents and their families with restrictive eating disorders.

The required work days for this position are Monday & Tuesday due to room allocation and staffing needs. Applicants unable to commit to these days will not be considered.

Internally, this position may also be referred to and/or known as: Eating Disorders Service Lead - Adolescent Medicine.

Classification for this position is in accordance with Award 41 - Psychologists.

This will range from PM1 (Grade 4, Year 1) to PM5 (Grade 4, Year 5), $123,302.40-$148,309.20 per annum, pro rata for part-time, plus superannuation.

What you'll achieve:

- Provides high level specialised leadership and clinical expertise of the eating disorders mental health team including complex caseloads, access to clinical supervision and professional development
- Deliver evidence-based practice and specialised outpatient clinical care to adolescents with restrictive eating disorders as part of the multidisciplinary team and per the Eating Disorders Service model
- Manage a complex and varied clinical caseload
- Empower staff to identify, analyse, report and manage risks and support staff who raise concerns about risk or patient safety
- Maintain clinical documentation, records and data as per discipline specific guidelines and RCH procedures
- Complete mandatory client contacts, outcome measures and report activity levels (statistics) to support team/s meeting KPI obligations
- Participation in education and teaching within Department of Adolescent Medicine, wider RCH services as well as local, national and international forums/conferences

Your skills and experience:

- Current Registration with AHPRA, this means full registration and endorsement as a Clinical or Health Psychologist with the Psychology Registration Board of Australia
- At least 8 years of post-graduate experience from an accredited course/university
- APAC approved masters level postgraduate training in clinical or health psychology




- Holds current Board Approval as a Supervisor ("postgraduate student" and "registrar program") with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Continuously satisfy the PBA continuing career development standards
- Uphold the PBA Code of Ethics
- Proven capacity for leadership in a team environment and ability to work well as a senior team member
- Eligibility for Membership in Victoria with the appropriate professional body
- Experience in providing quality clinical/professional supervision to staff and students
- Demonstrated effectiveness in providing evidence-based treatments to young people with a restrictive eating disorder
- Proven capacity for leadership in a team environment and ability to work well as a senior team member
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working in true partnership with other community mental health teams and community/family welfare agencies to plan and implement effective interventions for young people experiencing complex eating disorders (Desirable).

About the Department:

The Department of Adolescent Medicine, Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, is a multidisciplinary specialty department providing inpatient and outpatient care to adolescents experiencing both physical and mental health concerns. Sub-speciality teams within the Department of Adolescent Medicine include the Eating Disorders Service, specialising in treating adolescents with anorexia nervosa and other restrictive eating disorders, the Gender Service who assist children and adolescents experiencing gender dysphoria, The Transition of Care service providing care in transition from paediatric to adult health providers, the Young People's Health Service who provide primary health care for marginalised and at risk youth and the Chronic Illness Peer support (ChIPS) team who facilitate peer support, leadership and participation among adolescent and young adults aged 12-25 living with a chronic illness. Inpatient Adolescent Medicine includes the care of adolescents requiring admission to the RCH for medical conditions with psychosocial complexity, somatisation disorders and medically unstable patients with restrictive type eating disorders.
