About the role
You will work across laboratory development, process engineering, pilot trials and commercial scale up. Working directly with the Chief Technology Officer, CEO and engineering team, you will help develop and commercialise treatments for contaminants including PFAS, ammonia, phosphorus and microbial contamination. Your work will begin in the laboratory, but the objective is much larger. We need processes that are repeatable, economically viable and capable of operating at commercial flow rates on customer sites. You will have considerable ownership of the laboratory and the opportunity to influence how an emerging Australian water technology is developed and deployed.
Key responsibilities
- Managing the safe and effective operation of the Heathcote laboratory.
- Planning and conducting experiments against clearly defined technical and commercial objectives.
- Developing and optimising chemical dosing, mixing, residence time and nanoparticle recovery processes.
- Designing experiments and ensuring results are accurate, repeatable and properly documented.
- Conducting water testing, sample preparation, equipment calibration and quality control.
- Preparing sampling plans and coordinating analysis with external laboratories.
- Developing standard operating procedures, laboratory records, risk assessments and chemical registers.
- Analysing test results and preparing clear technical reports and recommendations.
- Supporting pilot trials, customer demonstrations and system commissioning at field sites.
- Troubleshooting pumps, tanks, pipework, mixers, sensors, dosing systems and related process equipment.
About you
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Approximately three to seven years of practical experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, process development, chemical manufacturing or environmental technology.
- Strong laboratory skills, including experimental design, chemical dosing, analytical testing, calibration and quality control.
- Experience taking a process from laboratory testing through pilot trials and towards commercial operation.
- A practical understanding of pumps, flow rates, tanks, pipework, static mixers, residence time, sensors and process control.
- The ability to interpret data and distinguish an interesting result from a repeatable commercial process.
- Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.
- A practical, curious and resourceful approach to solving problems.
- A current driver licence and the right to work in Australia.
Benefits
- A salary of $75,000 to $95,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.
- A significant role in the development of an Australian water technology platform.
- Direct access to the company's technical leadership and decision makers.
- The opportunity to work across laboratory development, field trials and commercial deployment.
- The potential to build and lead a larger laboratory team as NTS grows.
About us
Nano Tech Systems Pty Ltd, known as NTS, is an Australian water technology company developing a new approach to removing contaminants from water. Our Magnetic Particle Extraction technology combines functionalised magnetic nanoparticles with a high flow magnetic separation system.
