HC Truck Driver – Scrap Metal

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable HC Truck Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a prime mover and trailer combination used for the collection and transportation of scrap metal.

This is a hands-on role suited to a driver who takes pride in operating heavy vehicles safely, maintaining their equipment and delivering a high standard of work.

Key Responsibilities

● Safely operate an HC-class prime mover with trailer.

● Collect and transport scrap metal between customers, yards and designated facilities.

● Secure and transport loads in accordance with road and load-restraint requirements.

● Conduct daily pre-start and safety checks on the truck and trailer.

● Ensure loads are transported safely and efficiently.

● Complete required paperwork, delivery dockets, weighbridge documentation and other records.

● Follow all fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility and heavy vehicle requirements.

● Maintain communication with dispatch, customers and management throughout the day.

● Keep the truck and trailer clean and report any mechanical issues or defects promptly.





● Operate the vehicle responsibly and comply with all site safety procedures.

● Assist with loading and unloading duties where required.

● Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers and other businesses.

Requirements

● Current HC Driver’s Licence.

● Previous experience driving prime mover and trailer combinations.

● Heavy vehicle driving experience is essential.

● Scrap metal, tipper, hook-lift, transport or similar industry experience is highly regarded.

● Positive knowledge of Sydney roads and surrounding areas.

● Strong understanding of load restraint and heavy vehicle safety requirements.

● Reliable, punctual and professional work ethic.

● Good communication skills.

● Ability to work independently and follow instructions.

● Clean and protected driving history is preferred.

Pay: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour
