Coffee & Kitchen East is looking for a motivated first- or second-year Apprentice Chef to join our kitchen team in a full time position.
This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys cooking, wants to develop robust commercial kitchen skills and is ready to build a long-term career in hospitality.
About the role
Working alongside our experienced kitchen team, you will receive practical, hands-on training while completing your Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
Your duties will include:
Preparing and cooking café meals
Assisting with breakfast and lunch service
Food preparation, portioning and presentation
Following recipes and maintaining consistent quality
Receiving and correctly storing food deliveries
Stock rotation and minimising food waste
Maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards
Cleaning and organising kitchen equipment and work areas
Supporting the kitchen team during busy services
We’re looking for someone who:
Is currently a first- or second-year apprentice, or is ready to begin a commercial cookery apprenticeship
Has a genuine interest in food and cooking
Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
Can remain calm and organised in a busy café kitchen
Takes pride in cleanliness, presentation and quality
Communicates well and works positively as part of a team
Is available for early starts and weekend work
Has reliable transport to East Ballina
Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential for a first-year applicant. The right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are most significant.
