ROLE – CNC Machinist

SALARY – Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience

TYPE – Temporary Contract (1 month)

LOCATION – Sydney, NSW

My client specialises in the manufacture, maintenance and repair of industrial process plant equipment. They are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team in Sydney on a temporary contract.

The CNC Machinist will ideally have the following attributes:
Trade qualified CNC Machinist, Fitter & Machinist or similar
3+ years’ experience in a similar CNC machining position
Strong experience operating CNC milling machines
Experience operating a SYIL X9 CNC mill and Siemens SINUMERIK 828D controls
Previous experience working with process plant equipment or within process plant environments
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Solid understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling and cutting parameters
Experience setting and adjusting CNC machines
Experience with measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers and gauges
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team




Strong understanding of workplace health and safety procedures
Excellent communication and time management skills

The CNC Machinist role will involve:
Operating a SYIL X9 CNC mill using Siemens SINUMERIK 828D controls
Setting and adjusting CNC machines for production and one-off components
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
Selecting appropriate tooling and setting cutting parameters
Carrying out machining of components to required specifications and tolerances
Inspecting completed components using precision measuring equipment
Making machine offsets and adjustments as required
Identifying and resolving machining issues to maintain quality and efficiency
Assisting with repairs, modifications and project work as required
Ensuring all machining work is completed in line with safety and quality standards
Liaising with supervisors, engineers and other workshop personnel
Maintaining a clean, protected and organised work workplace
Working to project deadlines and production schedules
