Job Description
FIFO Pump Technicians / Mechanical Fitters
$75 Per Hour + Super | 8/6 Roster | FIFO From Perth
Tired of maintaining the same equipment, at the same site, on the same routine every swing?
This is your opportunity to join our client,an expanding Western Australian specialist delivering advanced pumping, dewatering and dredging solutions across some of the state's toughest operating environments.
Working across regional WA project sites, you'll gain hands‐on exposure to an impressive range of internationally recognised equipment.
Our client operates across pump sales, hire, servicing, repairs, project delivery and specialist dredging—so this is not a role where you'll spend every swing completing repetitive servicing on one piece of plant.
If you enjoy solving mechanical problems, working independently and being the person others rely on when equipment needs to perform, this could be the FIFO opportunity you've been waiting for.
The Opportunity
As a FIFO Pump Technician / Mechanical Fitter, you'll work alongside an experienced operational crew maintaining, repairing and supporting pumps, diesel‐driven plant, hydraulic equipment and specialised dredging systems.
You'll be trusted to diagnose problems, make practical decisions in the field and take ownership of keeping critical equipment operating.
Your responsibilities will include:
Servicing, repairing and maintaining pumps and diesel‐driven equipment
Diagnosing mechanical faults and responding to field breakdowns
Completing scheduled and preventative maintenance
Troubleshooting hydraulic pumps, hoses, valves and associated systems
Carrying out field repairs,
adjustments and component replacements
Assisting with equipment assembly, disassembly and refurbishment
Supporting the commissioning and decommissioning of pumping and dredging systems
Inspecting equipment and identifying defects before they cause downtime
Completing maintenance records, fault reports and job documentation
Participating in pre‐starts, Take 5s, toolbox meetings and site safety processes
Supporting the broader crew with practical site activities when required
Sharing your technical knowledge and contributing to better ways of working
What You'll Bring
We're looking for capable tradespeople who know their way around mechanical equipment and don't need to be chased to get things done.
Ideally, you'll have:
A recognised Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner or Heavy Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
Experience servicing, repairing or rebuilding pumps and diesel‐driven equipment
Strong mechanical fault‐finding and diagnostic capabilities
Practical experience with hydraulic systems
Previous FIFO or remote‐site experience within mining, resources, civil, dewatering or heavy industry
A strong understanding of mine‐site safety requirements
The ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions in the field
A current Australian Driver's Licence
A current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
The ability to pass a pre‐employment medical and drug and alcohol screen
Previous experience with slurry pumps, dewatering systems, dredging equipment, remote‐operated machinery or amphibious equipment will be highly regarded; however, genuine mechanical capability, initiative and the right attitude will be just as significant.
What's On Offer
Even‐time 8 days on, 6 days off roster
12-hour shifts
FIFO from Perth to project locations across regional WA
Exposure to specialist equipment most fitters rarely get the opportunity to work on
A varied mix of site, field and workshop activities
A hands‐on position where your technical judgement will be valued
The opportunity to work across mining, dewatering, pumping and dredging operations
Genuine potential to broaden your operational experience
The Right Fit
This role will suit someone who takes pride in their trade, notices problems before they become breakdowns and is prepared to contribute wherever the crew needs support.
You'll be practical, safety‐focused and comfortable working in remote environments.
You won't be someone who says, "That's not my job"—you'll be the person who helps find a way to get the job done safely and properly.
Opportunities to work across this type of specialist equipment don't come up every day.
If you're an experienced Pump Technician, Mechanical Fitter or HD Diesel Mechanic looking for variety, responsibility and an excellent 8/6 FIFO roster, we want to hear from you.
