Our client is a well-established Australian manufacturer and part of a global industrial group supplying highly engineered products to customers across aerospace, defence, power generation and other critical industries.
With significant investment in future growth, the business is expanding its commercial capability and is seeking an experienced Business Development & Sales Manager to help develop new markets, strengthen customer relationships and support long-term growth both locally and internationally.
About the chance
This is much more than a traditional sales role.
You'll inherit an established portfolio of key customers while identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships and contributing to the future growth of the business.
Working closely with engineering, production and technical specialists, you'll help customers solve complex challenges and deliver commercially successful outcomes.
The role offers a genuine balance of business development and account management, combining strategic sales with technical collaboration.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing and growing strategic customer relationships
Identifying and developing new business opportunities across domestic and international markets
Preparing quotations, negotiating commercial outcomes and protecting margins
Working closely with technical teams to develop customer solutions
Building long-term customer partnerships and supply agreements
Contributing to market research, business planning and commercial strategy
International travel forms part of the role, providing opportunities to build relationships with customers throughout Asia, the Middle East and other international markets.
About you




We're looking for someone who combines commercial drive with technical curiosity.
You may come from engineering, manufacturing, industrial sales or another technical environment, but you'll enjoy developing relationships, identifying opportunities and working collaboratively to solve customer challenges.
Ideally, you'll bring:
Experience in business development, technical sales or account management within engineering, manufacturing or industrial markets
A proven ability to grow existing accounts while developing new business
Strong commercial, negotiation and relationship-building skills
The ability to understand technical products and communicate effectively with engineering teams
An engineering, metallurgy, materials or other relevant technical background (highly regarded)
A current Australian Driver's Licence
Most importantly, you'll be proactive, commercially minded and motivated by building long-term customer partnerships rather than simply chasing transactions.
