Description
Role:
SocialProgram Assistant
Start Date
: Immediately
Shift:
Saturdays fortnightly 12:45pm to 4:15pm and /or Mondays 4:15pm to 7:45pm.
Role Purpose:
Social Program Facilitators hold responsibility for planning and delivering an inclusive strength-based Social Program for autistic individuals through a range of activities based on the needs, strengths and interests of attendees.
The role supports participants by creating a safe, inclusive and empowering environment that creates opportunities for people to come together, connect and grow.
As a Social Program Facilitator, you will be responsible for:
Delivering a semi-structured, strengths-based social program that is uniquely tailored to autistic participants' individual needs, special interests, goals and communication styles.
Building supportive relationships with (and among) participants, recognising and responding to individual strengths, triggers, and communication needs
Ensuring all sessions follow internal risk management policies and procedures including timely completion of risk assessments
Guiding and mentoring a small team of Assistants, volunteers and/or students assigned to a Social Program
Managing participant attendance and communicating plans and expectations to parents and guardians
After each session submit strength based case notes for each participant, tracking their personal goals to support their NDIS funding.
Facilitator Competency Pathway (all new program staff):
To support quality program delivery and ensure you feel confident in the role, all new facilitators commence as an Assistant within an existing program.
During this phase, you will work alongside an experienced Facilitator to develop your understanding of our approach, program structure, and participant needs.
You will progressively build capability across key facilitator competencies, including program delivery, behaviour support, communication, and documentation.
This staged approach ensures you are well prepared before taking responsibility for leading a program, and provides an opportunity for you to determine whether the role aligns with your expectations.
Once you have demonstrated the required competencies, you will transition into a Program Facilitator role and be allocated your own program and team.
