About the role
n
In this role, you will lead a crew delivering high-quality maintenance across Council's parks, reserves, sports grounds, roadsides and streetscapes. You will help coordinate maintenance programs, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while contributing to the presentation and enjoyment of Greater Geelong's valued open spaces for the community.

Work type: Two permanent full-time positions available

Classification: Band 3 $70,838 pa plus super
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Lead a crew to undertake inspections & works, effective and efficient with appropriate maintenance programming as directed by a Parks Supervisor.
n
Lead a team in a range of horticultural maintenance tasks, including garden beds, open spaces and relevant park assets.
n
Lead a crew operating and maintain plant/machinery and equipment in an effective and efficient manner and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
n
Work within all Council health and safety policies and procedures.
n
Effective and productive recording of maintenance works undertaken time sheets and plant sheets or recorded on Councils Management Maintenance system.
n
Undertake weed control activities, including manual removal and chemical application in parks, reserves and roadsides.
n

About you
n
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant trade qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens,



or equivalent) and experience in providing leadership to a small crew.
n
n
Extensive experience in the broad range of horticultural maintenance activities performed in the Parks environment.
n
Experience in operating a range of Park's Maintenance plant and equipment.
n
Experience in providing leadership to a small team, ensuring team safety, training employees and providing good clear communication / instructions.
n
Experience and knowledge horticulture skills, practices and principals.
n
A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
n
A current LR/MR truck licence, or the ability and willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
n
Current Working with Children Check (Employee).
n
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre‐employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
n
