APS6 Finance Officer – Financial Analysis & Management Reporting

DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced
APS6 Finance Officer
to join a large Federal Government agency within its financial reporting and control function.
This is a senior finance opportunity with a strong focus on
budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial management
, supporting business areas to understand and effectively manage their financial position.
Working under limited direction, you will undertake complex financial analysis, provide advice to stakeholders and support financial planning and decision-making across multiple cost centres and projects.
The position may also contribute to broader project, quality assurance and strategic planning activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
Undertaking detailed analysis of actual expenditure against budgets and forecasts
Managing financial administration across cost centres and projects
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, monitoring and accrual processes
Analysing financial and statistical information to support planning and decision-making
Preparing and reviewing cost estimates, assumptions and supporting justifications
Investigating financial variances and working with stakeholders to resolve issues
Preparing financial reports, business cases, briefs and corporate documentation
Supporting quality assurance activities and financial integrity reporting
Collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver timely outcomes
Providing professional financial advice and support to business areas
These responsibilities reflect the role's particular emphasis on variance-to-budget analysis, forecasting, accruals, cost estimates and financial administration.
About you
To be successful, you will ideally bring:
Demonstrated experience in management accounting, financial analysis, budgeting or a similar finance function
Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis capability
Experience managing cost centres, accruals and financial reporting
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial information
Experience preparing financial reports and providing advice to stakeholders
Strong written communication skills, including reports, briefs and business cases
Confidence working autonomously and managing competing priorities
Experience within Federal Government or another complex organisation will be highly regarded
Experience with SAP or similar financial management systems will also be advantageous
You may currently be working as a
Management Accountant, Finance Business Partner, Senior Finance Officer, Financial Analyst, Budget Analyst, Project Accountant or APS6 Finance Officer
.
