Our client MC Automotive Service & Repairs, based in East Maitland, NSW, is seeking to add a full-time Motor Mechanic to its established automotive workshop.
The position will involve servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of motor vehicles, with particular emphasis on engine, transmission, suspension, steering, braking, electrical and diagnostic systems to ensure protected, reliable and efficient vehicle performance.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines, driveline systems and vehicle components.
Perform scheduled servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication and engine tune-ups.
Remove, repair and refit engines, transmissions, differentials and associated mechanical assemblies.
Repair or replace worn, damaged and defective mechanical and electrical vehicle components.
Diagnose and repair engine management, fuel injection and ignition system faults.
Service and repair braking, steering, suspension, transmission and cooling system components.
Carry out radiator, hose, water pump and associated cooling system repairs.
Perform differential, driveshaft and transmission servicing, repairs and component replacement.




Use computerised diagnostic equipment to identify faults and assess vehicle operating performance.
Test and adjust repaired mechanical components to ensure correct operation and performance.
Inspect and repair vehicle lighting, electrical circuits and related automotive electrical components.
Perform tyre fitting, wheel inspections and related suspension and wheel alignment work.
Undertake oxy, electric and MIG welding where required during vehicle repair work.
Review work orders, service information and technical manuals before completing repairs and maintenance.
Maintain workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and machinery in safe and serviceable condition.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
AQF Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology or another directly relevant automotive mechanical qualification is required.
A minimum of 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience in a commercial automotive workshop is mandatory.
At least 12 months' experience servicing Intercontinental, European and Asian vehicle makes and models is required.
At least 12 months' practical experience using oxy, electric and MIG welding techniques is required.
At least 12 months' experience servicing or repairing hybrid and electric vehicles is required.
At least 12 months' practical tyre fitting experience, including related wheel and suspension work, is required.
Demonstrated ability to operate automotive diagnostic equipment and competently use hand and power tools is essential.
Applicants must work effectively independently and within a team, provide verifiable references, and pass drug and alcohol testing.
