We are currently seeking a full time permanent staff member to joinour Climate Emergency team based at our offices inSunshine.
The role
Reporting to the Climate Emergency Coordinator, we are seeking a Waste Education Officer who can bring their skills and experience to:
Work across different Council departments to develop and deliver waste education projects and programs.
Provide a specialist customer service resource to respond to enquiries around the kerside reform program.
Provide input and help to develop policy, strategy, and advocacy documents (e.g. comment on consultation papers) and presentations.
Manage a budget, and related procurement processes.
This includes engaging, supervising and managing consultants, seeking competitive quotes and reporting on the budget.
To be considered you will have
Ability to work in accordance with our values and behaviours.
Possess a relevant degree qualification in waste management, sustainability, environmental management, education or related field with relevant experience or a lesser formal qualification with substantial experience.
Extensive knowledge and capacity to provide specialist advice on waste management and the transition to the circular economy.
Relevant skills and experience in the end-to-end development, delivery and evaluation of waste education and behaviour change programs and projects.
Possess high-level interpersonal and communication skills.
This includes the demonstrated ability to foster internal networks and maintain positive intra-organisational relationships.
Demonstrated ability to manage own time, set priorities, and plan and organise work to deliver relevant actions from Council strategies on time and within budget.
Local government experience is desirable
