Wax Wineroom is a neighbourhood wine bar/listening room built around thoughtful wine, great music, and exceptional food. Our menu centres on naturally fermented sourdough pizzas and a small selection of seasonal share plates, with a focus on quality ingredients, consistency, and simplicity done well.

We're looking for a passionate and skilled Pizza / Sous Chef to join our opening team. You'll work closely with our Head Chef to help shape the kitchen, maintain high culinary standards, and deliver consistently exceptional food in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

What You'll Be Doing

Work alongside the Head Chef to execute a seasonal menu focused on sourdough pizzas and share plates.
n
Prepare, stretch and cook high-quality pizzas with consistency and attention to detail.
n
Assist in the day-to-day management of kitchen operations, including food preparation, service, and presentation.
n
Maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, organisation, and kitchen efficiency.
n
Help manage stock, ordering, and food costs to minimise waste and maximise profitability.
n
Help ensure all food safety and workplace health and safety standards are met.
n
Work closely with suppliers and the management team to maintain the quality and consistency of our offering.

Contribute ideas to menu development and continuously improve kitchen systems and workflows.

About You
n
n
Experience working in a quality restaurant, wine bar, or pizza-focused kitchen.
n
Experience working with naturally fermented sourdough, including dough preparation, fermentation, stretching, and baking.
n
Confident with dough handling, pizza preparation, and service.
n
Organised, calm under pressure, and able to lead by example during busy services.
n
Strong understanding of food safety, stock control, and kitchen operations.
n
Passionate about quality ingredients, hospitality, and continuous improvement.
n
A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative and positive environment.
