Position Information
Gulargambone Central School is a vibrant Kindergarten to Year 12 school located in the close-knit community of Gulargambone, a town of approximately 500 residents situated on the Castlereagh River, 120km north of Dubbo, NSW.
Our school welcomes a diverse student population of 110, including 25 secondary students, with 85% identifying as Aboriginal.
The successful applicant will be leading an experienced and dedicated staff implementing the full breadth of the NSW curriculum.
The student body, of whom 80% identify as Aboriginal are from the local community and work well with staff in a respectful and cohesive atmosphere.
The school caters to the needs and interests of the students and initiates specific programs and opportunities for this.
We pride ourselves on maintaining small class sizes supported by dedicated School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) and Aboriginal Support Staff, ensuring all students receive high-quality teaching and tailored remedial support when needed.

Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Proven ability to be an accessible leader who fosters successful partnerships with key stakeholders and possesses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate and manage the complexities of the day to day running of our school.
Capacity to implement and supervise effective implementation of DoE, NESA, wellbeing and VET systems with a focus on preparing students for post school pathways.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the complex educational and welfare needs of students from rural communities with low socioeconomic and high Aboriginal populations, to ensure specialist support is tailored to each child as required.
General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
