Rail Signal Design Engineer/Senior Signal Design Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity for signalling professionals looking to work across a diverse portfolio of major rail infrastructure and signalling projects.
We are considering candidates at both
Signal Design Engineer
and
Senior Signal Design Engineer
level. The level of appointment will be determined based on your experience, technical competencies, signalling licences and demonstrated capability.
Primary Role
Deliver and/or verify railway signalling designs / projects and/or contribute to larger, more complex design projects to relevant standards, or code of practice, and agreed client requirements.
Responsibilities
Working as part of JMDR's signalling engineering team, you will be involved in the design and delivery of signalling systems across major Australian rail networks.
Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities will include:
Production of Concept and Detailed Signalling Designs,
Checking and Approval of feasibility, outline and detailed Signalling Principles Designs and calculations
Design, Checking and Verifying of Signalling Circuits, Signalling Plans, Bonding Plans, Location / REB Designs, Control Tables, Data and Location Drawings
A full understanding of the Engineering life cycle and its processes
Current knowledge of signalling design processes
Extensive knowledge of TfNSW, QR, MTM, V/Line, PTA Standards
Able to lead the production of signalling design drawings as instructed and in accordance with own knowledge and experience, and to act as an independent verifier of the work of others
Able to provide resource estimates to the Design Manager
Able to act as a Mentor to members if the signalling design staff as directed
Able to communicate effectively and establish positive relationships with other team members and with other disciplines and peers
Professional qualification to Chartered Engineer level
Knowledge of contractual conditions
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent understanding of Task, Time and People Management
Maintaining Logbook for periodic review
Mentoring other Design Engineers and field staff
Senior-Level Requirements
For appointment as a
Senior Signal Design Engineer
, candidates would ideally have:
Approximately
10+ years' relevant signalling design experience
, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
Significant experience producing, checking, reviewing and verifying signalling designs.
Relevant signalling design competencies and/or IRSE licences.
Experience leading signalling design activities and mentoring engineering staff.
Strong knowledge of Australian signalling standards and assurance requirements.
Chartered Engineer status or progress towards qualified registration is highly regarded.
Relevant qualifications, licences and registrations may include:
A degree, HND or professional engineering / diploma engineering qualifications (preferably in Electrical) and suitable training courses
Demonstrated experience in signalling design and implementation
IRSE Licence Signalling Principles Designer ******* and Verifier's Licence *******
ETCS, Microlock, PRIPEV, RPEQ Registrations
Experience working to standards and requirements associated with organisations such as
Transport for NSW, Queensland Rail, Metro Trains Melbourne, V/Line and/or PTA
