About this Position:
The Drainage and Water Attendant plays a key role in supporting the operation, maintenance and construction works of Council's urban drainage, water and waste water infrastructure.

What we trust you to deliver:
Network Operations and Maintenance: Perform operational and maintenance tasks on Council's urban drains, water and wastewater infrastructure, as directed by the Field Supervisors, ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.
Labouring and Construction Support: Undertake a range of manual labour tasks to support the construction, operation, and maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure and the urban drainage network.
Communication: Deliver skilled customer interactions with the community and cooperate and effectively communicate with team members and internal stakeholders.
Small Plant and Equipment Operation: Operate small plant and equipment such as plate compactors,



hand tolls and hand held power tools, ensuring safe and effective use.
Work Health and Safety: Follow defined Work Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks within the capabilities of the role as directed by the field Supervisor such as quarterly meter reading of household water consumption.
On-Call: Available to participate in an on-call roster outside of standard working hours.
This will involve responding to afterhours ordinary duties, hazards, unplanned operational situations, emergencies, or storm damage.
What you will need to be successful:
Current Class C Drivers Licence
General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Certificate III in Water Operations, Civil Construction (Pipelaying) or similar or willing to obtain
Sound verbal and written communication skills
Basic level of computer literacy and competence in the use of tablets
Current immunisation against Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B viruses or willingness to participate in an immunisation program
Availability to work an on-call roster outside of normal working hours
Salary:
F rom $1,****** (Grade 6 Entry) per week + superannuation

Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements.
Pre-employment Screening:
Prior to employment, there will be a series of pre-employment checks that will i nclude health assessments (such as functional fitness, audio, drug testing), validation of right to work in Australia, validation of qualifications and licences, psychometric assessments and referee checks.
Immunisation Program:
Council has an immunisation program to provide employees with vaccinations against known health risks associated with their respective duties and to identify any exposure to products that may affect an employee's health, fitness and wellbeing.
This position has been identified as a risk to the employee and as such the successful applicant/s will be required to participate in the immunisation program and it is the applicant's responsibility to have undertaken relevant immunisation/s prior to commencement with Council.
