We are seeking a motivated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Geotechnical team in Sydney.
As an Experienced Geotechnical Engineer, you will play an important role in delivering geotechnical investigations, assessments, reporting, and construction support across a diverse range of civil infrastructure, land development, and building projects.
Working with limited supervision, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, build client relationships, coordinate project delivery, and support the development of Graduate and Junior Engineers.

Who You Are
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
Approximately 3–6 years' experience in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology, preferably within a consultancy environment.




Sound understanding of soil and rock mechanics and geotechnical interpretation.
Experience planning and coordinating geotechnical investigations with limited supervision.
Experience preparing factual and interpretive geotechnical reports.
Experience undertaking geotechnical assessments and analyses for foundations, earthworks, pavements, retaining structures, and slopes.
Experience coordinating projects and communicating directly with clients and contractors.
Some experience preparing fee proposals and monitoring project costs.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical quality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a close-knit team.
Willingness and ability to guide and mentor Graduate and Junior Engineers.
Strong time management and organisational skills.
Preferred
Experience across infrastructure, transport, land development, or complex building projects.
Chartered status or progress towards professional accreditation.
Familiarity with Sydney ground conditions, relevant Australian Standards, and local industry practice.

What You'll Do
Technical and Project Delivery:
Plan, coordinate, and deliver geotechnical investigations with limited supervision.
Supervise drilling, test pits, and in-situ testing programs.
Log soil and rock in accordance with relevant Australian Standards.
Interpret subsurface conditions,



laboratory results, and field data.
Prepare high-quality factual and interpretive geotechnical reports with practical design recommendations.
Undertake geotechnical assessments and analyses for foundations, earthworks, pavements, retaining structures, and slopes.
Provide construction support, including site inspections and technical advice.
Assist clients and contractors in resolving geotechnical issues during construction.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant legislation, Australian Standards, industry guidelines, and EGA quality standards.
Project Management and Client Relationships:
Assist in managing geotechnical projects from initial investigation through to reporting and construction support.
Monitor project budgets, programs, and deliverables.
Liaise directly with clients, contractors, laboratories, and internal project teams.
Identify and communicate changes to project scope, timing, or requirements.
Contribute to the preparation of fee proposals and project planning.
Support the delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard.
Mentoring and Team Development:
Provide day-to-day guidance and informal mentoring to Graduate and Junior Engineers.
Review junior staff outputs, including field logs and draft reports.
Support the development of technical skills and confidence within the team.
Help maintain high standards of safety, technical quality, and documentation.
Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Share knowledge and contribute ideas to improve technical processes and service delivery.
