About You
Join RMIT University as a Strategic Sourcing Manager and play a key role in shaping the procurement strategy for our Property Services portfolio.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sourcing professional who thrives in a complex stakeholder environment and has a passion for delivering commercial value through strategic procurement and supplier management.
In this role, you will lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies and tender processes across a range of property-related categories, including facilities management, maintenance services, capital development projects, construction-related services, and panel arrangements.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver procurement outcomes that balance cost, quality, risk, sustainability and service performance.
You will also contribute to the ongoing management and optimisation of supplier panels, supporting vendor governance activities, supplier performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working collaboratively with Category Managers and Vendor Managers, you will help ensure supplier relationships are aligned with broader category strategies and organisational objectives.
Your ability to influence stakeholders, manage complex sourcing projects, and negotiate favourable commercial outcomes will be critical to your success.
Based at our Melbourne City campus, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the University's property and infrastructure procurement outcomes.
Key Performance Indicators
Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Outcomes
Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with Property Services and University objectives.
Deliver annual savings, cost avoidance, and value-improvement outcomes through strategic sourcing initiatives.
Achieve tender and sourcing project milestones within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Improve procurement outcomes through market analysis, competitive sourcing, and effective commercial negotiations.
Tender & Contract Management
Successfully manage end-to-end tender processes in accordance with procurement policies and governance requirements.




Negotiate contracts that achieve favourable commercial, service, and risk outcomes for the University.
Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant legislative, governance, and audit requirements.
Maintain contract execution and implementation schedules to support operational and project delivery needs.
Supplier & Panel Management
Establish and maintain high-performing supplier panels across Property Services categories.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and governance meetings for key suppliers.
Improve supplier performance through contract management, service-level monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support the development of vendor management frameworks that enhance supplier accountability and service delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement
Achieve high levels of stakeholder satisfaction through effective engagement, communication, and service delivery.
Build trusted relationships with Property Services, project teams, finance, legal, sustainability, and executive stakeholders.
Provide procurement leadership and advice on complex sourcing activities and commercial matters.
Sustainable Procurement
Embed sustainability considerations into sourcing strategies, tenders, and supplier evaluations.
Increase the adoption of sustainable procurement practices, including life cycle costing and responsible sourcing principles.
Support University objectives relating to environmental, social, and governance outcomes.
Operational Excellence
Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting within procurement systems.
Deliver insights and recommendations through spend analysis, supplier data, and procurement performance reporting.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement efficiency, governance, and stakeholder experience.
