Parish Secretary – St Madeline's Sophie Barat Parish, Kenthurst
St Madeline's Sophie Barat Parish is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Parish Secretary (part-time) to provide administrative and pastoral support to the Parish Priest, parish team and wider community.
The role is central to the smooth day-to-day operation of the parish office, supporting sacramental celebrations, parish activities, communications and parishioner enquiries.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has excellent attention to detail and is committed to delivering a high standard of service within a faith-based community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional administrative and clerical support to the Parish Priest and parish team.
Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the parish office and respond to parishioner and community enquiries.
Manage parish records, databases, correspondence and sacramental registers, including documentation for baptisms, weddings and funerals.
Liaise with families, clergy, schools, suppliers and other stakeholders, referring pastoral matters as appropriate.
Prepare parish communications, including notices, newsletters, bulletins and website/social media content.
Support parish meetings, events, celebrations, fundraising activities and parish centre bookings.
Assist with parish banking and ensure administrative practices comply with diocesan policies, safeguarding, privacy and WHS requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.
A skilled, friendly and welcoming manner, with a compassionate approach to parishioners and visitors.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email and database systems.
Sound judgement, discretion and a strong understanding of confidentiality, privacy and appropriate record management.




Respectful and effective communication with clergy, staff, volunteers, parishioners and the wider community.
This is an office-based role, with the successful applicant required to work from the parish office.
Hybrid or remote working arrangements are not available.
