Job details Geraldton Local Role Only | $***** per hour + super | Temp to Perm opportunity 2:2 roster | Geraldton-based | **** hour shifts Experienced Locomotive Drivers | Cert IV in Train Driving mandatory About the Client Our client is a leading organisation within the rail and freight industry, playing a key role in supporting the movement of commodities and resources across Western Australia.
Based in Geraldton, they offer the prospect to work within a safety-focused and collaborative environment that supports the regions important transport and logistics operations.
About the Position In this role, you will safely operate locomotives across freight routes between Geraldton, Perth and the Pilbara while working a 2:2 roster.
You will be responsible for train examinations, brake testing, shunting operations and completing locomotive pre-starts and inspections.
You will also work closely with Network Control and other rail personnel to ensure safe, efficient and compliant rail operations.
Key Responsibilitie s Safely operate locomotives across freight and bulk commodity routes.
Conduct train examinations, inspections and brake testing.
Perform shunting, coupling, uncoupling and marshalling operations.
Complete locomotive pre-starts and routine operational checks.
Monitor train performance and respond to operational issues.
Communicate effectively with Network Control and rail personnel.
Report hazards, incidents, defects and equipment faults.
Complete all required safety, operational and compliance documentation.
Maintain compliance with rail safety standards, procedures and network rules.




Promote a strong safety culture and operational excellence.
Experience Required Certificate IV in Train Driving (mandatory) .
Current Locomotive Driver Qualification/Accreditation.
Demonstrated experience operating freight, heavy haul or bulk commodity trains.
Proven experience conducting train examinations and brake testing.
Experience performing shunting, marshalling, coupling and uncoupling operations.
Sound knowledge of rail safeworking systems, network rules and operating procedures.
Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Current Australian Drivers Licence, with manual licence required .
Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Ability to pass a Rail Category 1 Medical, drug and alcohol screening and ongoing fitness-for-work assessments.
