Role Overview UMENCO is currently recruiting a Head of Australia, for a Recent Zealand leather goods label creating understated luxury designs for everyday life.
The Head of Australia will lead the brands growth and presence across the Australian market, playing a pivotal role as the brand established its first Australian store.
This is a senior, commercially focused position responsible for driving sales, building a loyal customer base and strengthening the brands presence across the Australian retail landscape.
The role will work closely with the New Zealand leadership team to ensure the brand's values, aesthetic and customer experience are thoughtfully translated to the local market.
As a commercial leader and passionate brand ambassador the Head of Australia will take ownership of market performance while remaining highly hands-on.
Working closely with the Store Manager, they will lead the retail strategy, support day-to-day performance and ensure an exceptional, considered customer experience.
The role will also contribute to the growth of wholesale and stockist relationships, using customer, market and commercial insights to identify opportunities and build sustainable growth across Australia.
The Head of Australia will also play an important role in building the brands profile, community and cultural relevance locally.




Working alongside the Australian PR agency and wider New Zealand Brand team, they will adapt and support the delivery of campaigns, content, social initiatives, events and activations that resonate with Australian customers.
As the local voice of the brand, they will cultivate relationships across fashion, retail, media and the broader creative community, identifying opportunities for partnerships, collaborations and community engagement.
As a people leader the Head of Australia will provide direction, coaching and support to the Store Manager and wider retail team, setting the standard for service, visual merchandising and operational excellence.
The successful talent will act as the key on-the-ground contact for the Australian business, feeding local market insights back into the wider team to inform product, buying and commercial strategy, while ensuring the smooth running of the operation in partnership with the Recent Zealand team.
The role requires an entrepreneurial adaptable and solutions-focused approach, with a willingness to be hands-on and support the business wherever needed.
The ideal talent will bring a proven track record within premium or luxury retail, with robust commercial acumen, clienteling expertise and experience leading and developing retail teams.
They will be a natural brand ambassador with a strong marketing sensibility, established Australian network and genuine interest in fashion, luxury goods and considered design.
Entrepreneurial, self-directed and highly collaborative, they will thrive in the ambiguity and opportunity of building a new market, while bringing excellent communication skills, commercial drive and the ability to represent the brands authentically across every touchpoint.
