Organisation Profile Our client is a well-established, privately-owned investment group with a diversified portfolio spanning select industries and sustainability focused investments.
Operating across multiple related entities nationally, the business is entering an exciting phase of systems transformation as it modernises its finance function and continues to grow.
Role Overview This newly-shaped position offers the opportunity to take true ownership of a specialist tax function within a team-oriented finance team.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll be the go-to person for all things tax across the group, while also picking up asset and lease accounting along the way.
It's a role best suited to someone who wants genuine autonomy over their own patch, rather than sitting as one of many within a broader compliance team.
Key Responsibilities Take the lead on preparing tax effect accounting workpapers and income tax returns ahead of external lodgement, working across a multi-entity group structure Manage the end-to-end BAS/GST lodgement cycle, along with FBT calculations and annual compliance Handle payroll tax compliance, including assessing contractor arrangements against employee-status obligations for superannuation and workers' compensation purposes Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, including depreciation schedules, capital expenditure reporting and asset stocktakes Own the lease accounting function - managing lease registers, right-of-use asset and lease liability calculations, and related reconciliations and disclosures Play an active role in an ongoing ERP system transition,

helping refine how tax and asset processes are configured and reported going forward Build strong working relationships with internal finance stakeholders and liaise directly with external tax agents and auditors as required Why This Role Stands Out A rare opportunity to own a specialist tax function end-to-end, rather than sitting within a shared compliance pool Direct reporting line into the GM Finance, with genuine autonomy over how the function is run Front-row exposure to a live ERP transformation, with real input into how tax and asset processes are built going forward A stable, long-tenured team - the business values continuity and genuinely invests in its people Broad multi-entity exposure that goes well beyond a typical single-entity tax role Hybrid working arrangement Ideal Candidate You're a CA/CPA qualified accounting professional with a strong technical grounding in corporate tax.
You've built genuine depth in tax effect accounting and income tax return preparation, ideally across multiple entities or a complex group structure, and you're confident enough in that foundation to hit the ground running without needing to be trained up.
You may have come from a Big 4 or mid-tier practice background, or built your experience in-house within a multi-entity industry setting - either path is welcome.
Exposure to lease accounting is a bonus, not a requirement.
Key Requirements CA or CPA qualified Strong technical background in tax effect accounting and income tax return preparation Working knowledge of GST/BAS, FBT and payroll tax compliance obligations Experience across multiple entities or a complex group structure highly regarded Exposure to lease accounting highly regarded, though not essential Confident, independent operator who can also communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders
