Job Description
About the role
n
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the cropping program, persistent of rain grown crops - sorghum, forage, hays, corn silage, as well as the operation and maintenance of plant and machinery, at our property located approximately 240 km south of Darwin.
n
Key responsibilities
n
Overseeing general farm operations
n
Managing and coordinating 4-5 farm staff and contractors
n
Machinery and equipment operation and maintenance
n
Property maintenance and infrastructure
n
Planning and completing seasonal farming activities
n
Maintaining a safe and productive working environment
n
General farm duties as required
n
Reporting to the directors
n
Crop budgeting and planning working in with cattle manager
n
Looking after approximately 4,000ha mixed cropping and new developing country
n
Organising crop rotation
n
Hay, Grain and Silage Production
n
Farm Planning layout, cropping rotational programs
n
Working with advanced agronomist
n
About you
n
Minimum 5 year experienced in a farm management or senior agricultural role
n
Knowable in John Deer Opps Centre and Green Star
n
Practical, reliable and hardworking
n
Able to work independently and as part of a team
n
A confident machinery operator and willing to teach others
n
Committed to maintaining strict maintenance schedules
n
Comfortable living and working in a remote station workplace
n
Well-organised with a strong attention to detail
n
Enjoy days off while fishing in the Daly River and camping
