APS6 Business Analyst/Project Support Officer
Location:
Canberra, ACT / Sydney, NSW / Brisbane, QLD / Hobart, TAS / Coffs Harbour, NSW
Contract:
ASAP to June ****, with possible extension options available for the right candidate, pending budget decisions as always
Pay:
$100 - $120 p/h including super (negotiable)
Work type:
Full-time
Work arrangement:
Flexible hybrid arrangements, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance:
Must hold a current Baseline clearance or above
About the Role
Our Federal Government client is looking for an experienced APS6 Business Analyst to join a digital health delivery team working on a nationally significant ICT initiative.
This is a hands-on business analysis role with a solid delivery focus. You will work across requirements analysis, business process analysis, impact assessment, testing, business validation and implementation. You will also support the governance and coordination needed to keep the project moving. That includes maintaining plans and registers, preparing reporting and executive material, and coordinating workshops and governance forums.
The role suits a well-rounded Business Analyst who can move comfortably between detailed requirements work, stakeholder engagement and project delivery support.
What You'll Be Doing
Undertake requirements analysis and maintain clear requirements traceability throughout the project
Elicit, analyse and document business needs, requirements and process impacts
Support business process analysis and identify how proposed changes affect users, systems and existing processes
Contribute to impact assessments across business and ICT changes
Support testing activities, business validation and implementation readiness
Work with business and technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve delivery issues
Help maintain project plans, schedules and key delivery documentation
Maintain risk, issue, action, decision and dependency registers
Prepare project reporting, progress updates, executive briefs and governance papers
Coordinate workshops, governance forums and project meetings
Prepare agendas, capture minutes and track actions through to completion
Support consistent project governance across planning, delivery, reporting and implementation activities




Work collaboratively across a distributed delivery team
Adapt priorities as project needs change while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

What You Bring (Essential Criteria)
You've worked as a Business Analyst on complex ICT, digital or government delivery projects
You can elicit, analyse and document clear business requirements
You've maintained requirements traceability from analysis through testing and implementation
You've completed business process analysis, process mapping or impact assessment work
You've supported testing, business validation or implementation activities
You can work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders
You've produced clear project documentation, reporting, briefs or governance material
You can manage risks, issues, actions, decisions and dependencies in a structured way
You communicate clearly in writing and in meetings, workshops and stakeholder discussions
You're proactive, organised and able to work independently in a distributed team
You're an Australian citizen
You must hold a current Baseline clearance or above
Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)
Experience in digital health, interoperability or government ICT environments
Experience supporting project governance, reporting and assurance activities
Experience with Agile, PRINCE2, P3 or similar project delivery frameworks
Strong experience with requirements traceability and business process mapping
Knowledge of the Medicare Benefits Schedule
Knowledge of Medicare Online Account or related Medicare services
Experience working across business analysis and project delivery activities in the same role
