By honouring each person's unique identity and experiences, we celebrate and uplift one another in return.What We Are Looking ForWe are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and inclusive Disability Support Worker to provide ongoing support to Aspen, an NDIS participant based in Homebush West, NSW.Aspen is looking for a support worker who can provide person-centred support with community access, appointments, errands, social activities, and capacity building, while promoting independence and meaningful participation in the community.A female Support Worker is preferred, and applicants who are LGBTQIA+ affirming, patient, respectful, and easy to communicate with are encouraged to apply.A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle are essential, as transport and community access will form an important part of the role.Responsibilities of the RoleProvide person-centred support that promotes Aspen's independence, choice, and participation.Support community access, social and recreational activities, and meaningful community engagement.Assist with attending appointments, rental and housing inspections,
and completing errands.Provide safe and reliable transport to and from community activities and appointments.Support wheelchair access and assist with transporting mobility equipment when required.Build a positive and respectful professional relationship based on trust, inclusion, and dignity.Encourage capacity building and the development of greater independence within the community.Support Aspen to engage in activities aligned with his interests and preferences, including activities involving cats and animals.Communicate effectively and respectfully with Aspen, his support network, and the Chosen Family team.Maintain accurate progress notes and ensure all relevant support documentation is completed.Uphold qualified boundaries, confidentiality, dignity, and the rights of the participant at all times.Applicants Must HaveWorking with Children Check (WWCC)NDIS Worker Screening CheckFirst Aid CertificateValid Driver's LicenceReliable vehicleAbility to safely transport mobility equipment when requiredLGBTQIA+ awareness and an inclusive approachAbility to support a wheelchair userStrong communication and interpersonal skillsReliability and availability on Wednesdays and SaturdaysThe Ideal CandidateWe would love to hear from someone who is:LGBTQIA+ affirming and respectful of diverse identitiesPatient, reliable, compassionate, and person-centredEasy to understand with clear communicationComfortable supporting a wheelchair userConfident with community access and transportComfortable assisting with appointments, errands, and housing-related activitiesA genuine cat and animal loverFully vaccinatedCommitted to supporting people to live with greater independence and choiceWe strongly encourage applications from people with a disability, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, Culturally & Linguistically Diverse people, and LGBTQIA+ people.
