Safety AdvisorLocation:Sydney, NSWBusiness Area:Transport InfrastructureIBG is recruiting a Safety Advisor for a major transport infrastructure client supporting the operation and maintenance of critical road assets across Sydney.The role provides professional health and safety advice and support to operational teams across a live TfNSW road workplace, working on the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the H&S; Management System.
It includes a rostered night shift safety support component on a monthly basis.Key AccountabilitiesProvide specialist, hands‐on H&S; advice, coaching and support to operational teamsAssist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of H&S; policies, standards, procedures and management plansComplete incident and injury investigations using recognised methodologies and root cause analysisTrack corrective actions and facilitate the sharing of lessons learnedConduct workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities, including regular H&S; plant inspections across company and subcontractor plantCoordinate plant onboarding — liaising with contractors on plant numbers, scheduling site visits, and reporting on onboarding progressSupport compliance with legislative, regulatory and contractual requirementsAssist in identifying,
assessing and controlling workplace hazards and risksSupport return‐to‐work and injury management processes as requiredCollect, monitor and analyse safety performance data, including leading and lagging indicators, trends and reportingDeliver inductions, toolbox talks, training programs and coaching to employees, supervisors and contractorsSupport the use and improvement of safety management systems and reporting platformsDeliver rostered night shift safety support on a monthly basisAbout YouCertificate IV in Work Health & Safety and/or a Diploma or tertiary qualification in OH&S;, plus relevant industry experienceCurrent driver's licenceIncident investigation qualification (ICAM or equivalent) highly regardedInternal or Lead Auditor training highly regarded3–5 years' experience in a safety, HSE or operational risk roleExperience in road asset maintenance, road infrastructure, civil works or a comparable live operational environmentProven experience engaging with frontline staff, supervisors, managers, clients and regulatory authoritiesExperience conducting workplace inspections, audits and investigationsWorking knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management principlesStrong analytical, report writing and stakeholder engagement skillsIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Willingness and ability to work rostered night shift as required
