About the role

Midas Cockburn is seeking a skilled LV Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in Cockburn Central, WA 6164, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic to contribute to our commitment to delivering high-quality automotive services. As an LV Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing light vehicle systems, ensuring our customers receive reliable and professional service.

What you'll be doing

- Performing scheduled maintenance tasks on light vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid level checks

- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and equipment

- Repairing and replacing components such as brakes, suspension, cooling systems, and engine parts

- Conducting vehicle inspections and safety checks in accordance with industry standards

- Documenting work completed and maintaining accurate service records

- Communicating effectively with customers regarding vehicle condition and recommended repairs

- Adhering to health and safety regulations within the workshop environment

- Contributing to the efficiency and cleanliness of the workshop

What we're looking for

- Formal qualification in automotive mechanical studies or equivalent trade apprenticeship

- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a light vehicle mechanic

- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools

- Robust knowledge of light vehicle mechanical and electrical systems

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and service specifications

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

- Clear communication abilities with colleagues and customers

- Current manual driver's licence and willingness to test drive vehicles

- Reliability and punctuality

- Experience working within fast-paced workshop environments

Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications and skills include:

· Minimum 3 Years of Relevant Qualified Experience (Post apprenticeship):

Prior experience in a similar role within the automotive industry as a qualified Cert III trade holder.

· Valid Australian Working Rights: Legal authorisation to work in Australia. No Sponsorship for this role is available.

· Strong Leadership and Communication Skills: The ability to lead and communicate effectively.

· Current Australian Full Driver's License: Possession of a full, valid Manual driver's license.

· Ability to Work Unsupervised: Self-motivation and the capability to work independently.

· Experience in wheel alignment is an advantage (not essential)

1-This is not for student visa holders and overseas applicants, we do not offer sponsorship.

2-Applicants most had Certificate III from Tafe or MTA (3 years apprenticeship) , one year qualification is not acceptable.

3-Three years post apprenticeship experience is essential.
