Job Description

About the program

The HIPPY program (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is a free, two-year, home-based early learning and parenting initiative. It works with families with young children in the pre-school years (2 - 4 years).

The objectives of HIPPY are to:

- Provide children with a structured play-based education-focused early learning program in their home
- Improve children’s preparedness for school and strengthen school participation
- Build confidence and skills of parents and carers to create a positive home learning environment,



empowering parent and carers as their child's first teacher
- Support employment, training and leadership opportunities for HIPPY Coordinators, Home Tutors and parents
- Strengthen communities

About the role

The HIPPY Coordinator has the responsibility for coordination, leadership, management and program implementation of the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) program.

The position will also provide supervision and training of Home Tutors, organising and facilitating gathering and HIPPY Program reporting.

This will be part-time position with 60.8 hours a fortnight spread over 5 days a week.

Desired Skills and Experience

We're looking for someone who brings:

- A tertiary qualification (Diploma or above) in Education, Early Childhood, Community Development, Social Work, Welfare Studies, or a related discipline
- Experience working with children and families, particularly within early childhood (0-8 years) services, education, community programs, or family support settings
- Solid understanding of child development and the importance of early learning and family engagement
- Experience building positive relationships with families, communities, schools, and service providers,



including working with culturally diverse communities
- Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, projects, services, or community initiatives and delivering outcomes against targets and timelines
- Experience leading, supervising, coaching, or supporting staff, volunteers or adult learners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders
- Strong administration, data management, and reporting skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office applications

Desirable

- Adult education or workplace training qualifications
- Experience delivering community-based programs
- Experience working with preschool and/or primary school curriculum
- Knowledge of project management principles
- Understanding of local community needs and service networks
