POSITION SUMMARY
FMR Investments is seeking experienced Charge Up Operators based at our Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine, approximately 55km north-east of Kalgoorlie. The company provides transport between the site and Kalgoorlie. This residential (No FIFO) role operates on a 12-hour 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off roster.
ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Charge Up Operator at our Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient preparation and charging of blast holes within the underground mining environment. This role requires a strong understanding of explosives handling, blast design, and mine safety protocols. You’ll need excellent attention to detail, a high level of situational awareness, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Success in this role relies on your ability to operate in high-pressure situations while maintaining strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct re-entry procedures and prepare, charge, and stem production and development blast holes in accordance with blast designs and site procedures.
- Safely transport, handle, and manage explosives, including maintaining explosives inventory records.
- Operate charge-up equipment, explosives vehicles, and other underground machinery to achieve production targets.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including reports, equipment records, safety documentation, shift notes,
and timesheets.
- Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, and implement appropriate controls to maintain a safe working environment.
- Comply with all company policies, site procedures, environmental requirements, and relevant WHS legislation.
- Maintain high standards of safety, performance, and teamwork while communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
- Undertake other underground mining and labouring duties as directed to support operational requirements.

- Explosives (bulk, packaged, initiation, etc.)
- Explosives Transport Vehicles (e.g., IT with charge basket and charge-up EWP machine, explosives LV)
- ANFO / Emulsion Charging Unit
- Gas Monitors
- Shift Reports / Plods
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Minimum 6 months experience as a Charge Up Operator using ANFO and/or emulsion
- Dangerous Goods Security Card (DGSC)
- Shotfirer's Licence (Explosives User Licence)
- Physically fit and able to work in hot, secure, and confined environments.
- Results driven with strong attention to detail.
- High initiative, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Flexible and adaptable with strong problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented with ability to effectively collaborate with other trades and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Safety-focused with a commitment to zero harm.
Desirable
- Emulsion charging experience
- Electronic Detonator logging/initiation systems (IKON, Daveytronic, etc.)
- Strong technical knowledge in the gold resource sector operations or mining industry
- First Aid or Emergency Response training
- High Risk Work Licence (HRWL)
- Elevated Work Platform Ticket (EWP)
- Confined Space Entry Ticket
- Working Safely at Heights Ticket
- Current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
