We are looking for a motivated, customer-focused Parts Assistant to join our dealership team.
This is a varied hands-on role combining customer service, automotive parts sales and procurement, administration, and vehicle presentation. You’ll be one of the first points of contact for our customers, providing friendly and professional service while supporting the Parts and Pre-Delivery departments.
About the Role
You will be responsible for delivering a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers, assisting with parts enquiries and sales, sourcing non-stock items, supporting wholesale accounts, and completing administrative duties accurately and efficiently.
You will also assist the Pre-Delivery team in ensuring vehicles are cleaned, presented to a high standard, and ready for customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities – Parts
- Provide courteous and professional service when handling customer enquiries.
- Follow up and assist in resolving customer requests and complaints.
- Assist with authorising parts and accessories sales for workshop repair orders.
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with our trade customer base and identify opportunities to increase trade sales.
- Assist the department in achieving sales and gross profit targets.
- Deliver a consistently high level of service to both internal and external customers.
- Complete invoices accurately and promptly.
- Source and purchase non-stock items at the best possible price.
- Check and authorise orders, picking slips, requisitions and purchase orders as required.
- Assist with maintaining aged invoices,
ensuring those under three weeks old are followed up appropriately, excluding Japan-sourced parts.
- Assist with lost sales reporting.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional department.
- Attend internal and external training as requested by management, including occasional after-hours training.
- Continually develop your product knowledge, parts procurement and inventory management skills, as well as your communication, customer service and sales skills.
Key Responsibilities – Pre-Delivery
- Ensure all exterior panels and glass are clean and presented to a high standard.
- Vacuum and wipe down vehicle interiors.
- Clean interior and exterior window glass, ensuring it is free from smears.
- Pay particular attention to door and window rubbers, as well as the dashboard and instrument cluster, particularly areas within the driver's direct line of sight.
- Chamois vehicles as required.
- Clean tyres and polish rims where possible.
- Ensure radio stations and volume are left as they were when the vehicle was brought in by the customer.
- Assist the Pre-Delivery department with other duties as directed by the Manager.
About You
The successful applicant will require:
- A current driver’s licence
- A forklift licence preferred
- A genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in their work.
- Is organised and able to accurately complete administrative tasks.
- Has an interest in the automotive industry and a willingness to develop their product knowledge.
- Can work effectively as part of a team and support both internal and external customers.
- Has a proactive attitude and is willing to assist wherever required.
- Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in presenting vehicles to a high standard.
