About the Role

A highly respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with an outstanding reputation across New Zealand is expanding its Australian operations and seeking an experienced Technical Director – Structural Engineering to lead its Australian structural division.
The role will specialise in land and property development projects, including new-build developments and alterations, upgrades and extensions to existing buildings. Candidates with strong structural engineering experience across these types of development projects will be highly regarded.
The business is already working with several leading Australian developers and construction groups, providing an established client base and a strong pipeline of secured projects.
This position can be tailored to suit your strengths. You may choose to remain technically involved in design and project delivery or focus more heavily on team leadership, client relationships and business growth.
The role is fully remote, with Brisbane-based candidates preferred to support local client relationships and the future growth of the Australian team.

Duties

- Lead the Australian Structural Engineering division
- Oversee structural engineering across new and existing building projects
- Provide technical leadership from concept through to construction
- Review and approve structural designs and documentation
- Mentor, manage and grow a team of structural engineers
- Build relationships with developers,



builders and industry consultants
- Drive business development and secure new project opportunities
- Ensure projects meet Australian Standards and NCC requirements
- Collaborate with the executive team on strategic growth initiatives
- Remain hands-on with design and delivery where desired

About You

- RPEQ Structural Engineer – essential
- Minimum seven years’ structural engineering experience in Australia
- Experience across land or property development projects is strongly preferred
- Strong background in new-build and existing-building projects
- Experience delivering residential, commercial or mixed-use developments
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and the National Construction Code
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers
- Ability to manage projects from concept and design through to construction
- Commercial mindset with strong client-relationship skills
- Business development experience will be highly regarded
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities
- Motivated by the prospect to build and lead a division for the long term
