About the role

Selecta Homes is seeking a Yard Hand to join our team at our Burton location. This is a casual position offering flexibility and variety in a quick-paced warehousing and distribution environment. As a Yard Hand, you will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of our yard operations, ensuring that goods are handled, stored and distributed effectively to support our business objectives.

What you'll be doing

- Loading and unloading materials and goods from vehicles and storage areas using appropriate handling equipment and techniques

- Operating forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently

- Organising and stacking goods in designated yard areas, ensuring proper storage and accessibility

- Performing regular yard maintenance, including cleaning, sweeping and general upkeep of the yard area

- Monitoring inventory levels and reporting any stock discrepancies or damage to management

- Assisting with the receipt, inspection and verification of incoming goods and materials

- Supporting the dispatch of outgoing goods, ensuring orders are accurate and properly prepared

- Maintaining clear communication with the warehouse team and supervisory staff regarding yard operations

- Adhering to all health, safety and environmental regulations whilst working in the yard

What we're looking for

- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour tasks, including lifting, bending and standing for extended periods

- Previous experience in a warehouse,



yard or distribution environment is highly desirable

- Forklift and materials handling certification or willingness to obtain certification

- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to manage inventory and maintain accurate records

- Ability to work safely and follow health and safety protocols consistently

- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

- Flexibility and reliability in meeting the demands of a casual work arrangement

- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on various tasks as required
