Light Vehicle Mechanic or 3rd/4th Year Apprentice

North Richmond, NSW | Full-Time (Mon–Fri)

About the role:

McCloy Automotive is seeking a skilled and dedicated Light Vehicle Mechanic or 3rd/4th year Mechanic to join our team in North Richmond NSW. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic automotive environment where your expertise will be valued and your career progression supported. As a Light Vehicle Mechanic, you will be at the heart of our operations, delivering high-quality mechanical services and repairs to our valued customers. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring that every vehicle leaving our workshop meets our exacting standards.

What you'll be doing:

- Perform routine maintenance and servicing on light vehicles including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks and adjustments

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

- Repair and replace faulty components including engines, transmissions, suspension systems and braking systems

- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and provide customers with detailed reports

- Keep accurate and detailed records of all work completed on each vehicle

- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair requirements, timescales

- Maintain a safe and clean workshop environment in compliance with health and safety regulations

- Collaborate with other team members to ensure productive workflow and timely job completion

- Stay updated with the latest vehicle technologies and repair techniques

What we're looking for:

* A recognised automotive mechanical qualification at TAFE NSW or MTA NSW in light vehicle repair and maintenance

* Proven experience working as a mechanic in a commercial workshop environment

* Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems

* Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and workshop tools

* Knowledge of current vehicle makes and models,



with understanding of both traditional and modern vehicle systems

* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship

* Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach

* A valid driver's licence

* Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude to work

* Experience with computerised workshop management systems is desirable
